Reduce Paper Usage, Save $1B+

Having worked with multi-agencies over the last 3 yrs, I came to realize that US Govt uses more paper than anyone else in the nation. We use paper, ink, printers, and faxes which probably amount to quarter billion dollars alone annually, when taken in amount the cost of items, human hours put in to turn the paper in electronic data, (and when not needed anymore), to file, to recycle/shred, and garbage disposal etc it... more »

"End of Year" Spending Sprees

Around the end of every fiscal year (30 Sep), there is always a mad dash to spend "fall out" money within every organization in the DoD (& very likely within every other government department). How many unnececcsary $2,000 50-inch plasma TV's would be displaying the lunch menus in on-base Dining Facilities if military organizations didn't feel compelled to spend unneeded, "leftover" funds?

Smaller Military

Scale down the size of our military. We already spend more money on our military than the entire rest of the world combined. We need to pull back some of our commitments and realize that future power will be determined by economic power, not military might. There is no reason to have bases in nearly every country in the world, or to send military aid to developed countries.

Recall all troops from foreign lands. Focus our defense efforts on tangible threats to our nation: climate change, energy consumption, degradation of schools and infrastructure, reliance on foreign energy, drug smuggling.
