Executive Office of the President

Expand the hours for public access to all governmental services while more people need us the most.

Hire more temporary workers to meet this need. It will create jobs while expediting the delivery of needed government services to the most vulnerable members of our population. Additionally, job-sharing, or 10-hour work days can also help fill the positions needed to get this done.

In the long run, it will save the government money.

Small Business Administration

Paralegal Specialist

This is related to the majority of temporary disaster assistance employees who are hired at the onset of a disaster and are laid off when the work load decreases. I recommend these experienced temporary employees are offered to downgrade to a temporary "part-time" status. This will allow the agency to retain more experienced employees for the next disaster. Also, these employees will be allowed handle the majority... more »

Student Loan Repayment Not Applicable Until After Minimum Service is Met

Student Loan Repayment is available to federal employees but it is on a case by case basis. As a result, many agencies only provide it to specific positions that are either hard to fill due to expertise or for positions in locations hard to fill.

The end result is a number of employees such as Engineers and Lawyers that get the Student Loan Repayment because of the competitive field of work they are involved in. These... more »

Discontinue Veterans Special Treatment when Applying for Positions

Change the hiring system so Veterans do not jump ahead of others applying for a position automatically. This is not Equal Employment Opportunity.

You have individuals that have no educational experience in the field of work related to the position, but due to the fact that they are a Veteran, they get preferential treatment.

An example would be a Marine Biologist position opening up in Panama City, FL, at the US Fish... more »

National Power Grid, Water, Internet Work Projects fashioned like the "Manhatten Project" during WW II

Many unemployed would sign up to support national work projects to build a smarter energy grid, or water transport system, or internet and communications networks. It would build our infrastructure and put people to work. It can be overseen by our existing Corps of Engineers or the like. Let's get it on!

Lower mortgage rates to 1 or 2 percent

I suggest that mortgage rates for all homeowners be lowered to 1 or 2 percent.

This would help people stay in their homes and not default on their mortgages.

It would also help stimulate the economy by giving homeowners some disposable income.

It would also be a way of rewarding people who have worked hard not to default on their mortgages and it would show that the government also cares about them.

Carbon Footprint Competition

There is nothing like a competition to get people motivated. We need a federal government wide competition that allows agencies to compete with one another to reduce their carbon footprint. Putting in place mechanisms to reduce energy consumption and increase use of renewable resources such as using capturing rain water for toliets, momentum based power, solar power, wind power. The rules would be to use whats in there... more »

Bring offshored jobs back to America

Provide incentives for American businesses to hire the unemployed and welfare receipents for "minimum wage" labor. One Ideas is make up the difference, in tax credits or government subsidies, for the cost of hiring an American in replacement of currently employed offshore employees. Such incentives are needed for Americans to be able to complete with offshoring of jobs. This may also encourage the building of American... more »

With the growth of the U.S. populaton and the increasing responsibilities of the Federal Goverment, Direct (Federal Hires) and Indirect (Contractor's and Lobbyists) Jobs are disporportionally (with respect to the other 48 states) located in the DC/VA/MD area. Enforce fair hiring practices for internally government employees

Enforce Fair and Better hiring practices for upper level positions within DOI:
Many 15+ year DOI employees never get promoted when promotions finally do come around. In the past 3 years there have been many upper level promotion opportunities in my department, they all went to outside people who have no idea how government works, and only have limited skills in one area. Definitely lowers moral and employee loyalty among... more »
