Pitch the Penny

Eliminate pennies. The cost too much to make, too much to transport, too much to count, and many end up lost into the environment. Preserve our natural resources and reduce pollution doing away with the costly penny. Rounding prices to the nearest nickel will be simple and reduce wear on pockets.

I work in the Cincinnati Service Center and suggest that instead of having a swing shift Monday thru Friday, that they should let them work the same days as data and receipt and control--Sunday thru Thursday. This way on Friday evenings they can shut down most of the building except for the few guards that they need. Flat Tax on Prisoner's Wages

Withhold a flat percentage of income for Federal tax purposes, say 10%, from pay to prisoners, and then exclude that income from reporting on Form 1040 where it could be improperly used to get certain benefits such as the earned income credit. This simplified taxation could also be used in other situations, such as Alaska Permanent Fund dividends that are paid to every person in Alaska, etc.

Stop printing the $1 bill

Stop printing the $1 bill. Other countries have successfully replaced paper bills of the lowest denomination with coins -- saving money because coins last longer. But the only way the coins will succeed is if the paper bill is retired.

Digital Documents

I suggest we implement a move to completely digital documents in a specified timeline. This would include educating people on how to scan and OCR documents and have digital as the preferred format of any document we send/publish/receive

The bank the Government uses for the Government Credit Card Program pays a percentage of cash back for purchases charged. That is cold hard cash the Government... more »
